MM has officially entered the Space Race!
A few weeks ago we began working on our Lumi collection. We wanted to strip back our creative process and begin from a clean slate, to embark on an exploration of light and the spaces between. It’s a concept we’ve been talking about together and looking forward to for a long time now and we thought it best to share its creation via a series of 10 microfilms as a sort of moving log-book.
Welcome to Lumi.
A few weeks ago we took a much needed road trip away from the studio and found ourselves camping beneath the shade cast by the tall forests of Blue Gums in a small clearing in Barrington Tops.
*After nearly 6 months of trial and error in the development of our glazes for our Campfire Collection, we decided to make a small film imagining how nice it would be if creating ceramics were as simple as cutting a freshly thrown pot off the wheel and dropping it into a small campfire. We wish it were this simple.
Atmospheric captures from the great blue yonder.
Our mint-in-box 1996 scale replica of the Sojourner Mars Rover, purchased off eBayer ‘tazfanatic’, was probably the best parcel we’ve received in the post all year. It was also the key to our adventure into Australia’s outback as it was destined to be the star in our small film to celebrate the second release of our Stargazers League collection.
Our ceramics journey down the vortex of Christmas.
How we brew coffee in the studio.
To raise funds to keep this project alive, we have made a run of Lamington Tumblers.
Lamingtons for all!
"All he wanted to do was dance."
A short film about cups.
We decided to press record as we set out to forage wild clay to utilise in our ceramics, harvest windfall to boil into dyes for the linen we use to wrap our finished pieces and of course casually explore a little bit more of our country's backyard.
